Growing up in the floral industry (where I worked from age 14 through college), I was enamored with flowers, but not in a ‘walk in nature’ kind of way. For me, flowers became great tools of design that could be curated and organized. I examined flowers in detail every day for so many years that their forms and parts became permanently wired into my brain. When I drew these flowers, I allowed that part of my brain to take over, creating new and unusual shapes and details. This collection is a nod to my early years in the world of floristry as well as the library of shapes, colors, smells and arrangements that still fill my head.
The Floristy collection is made up of five patterns in three colorways. I credit my color names to “Werner’s Nomemclature of Colours, Adapted to Zoology, Chemistry, Mineralogy, Anatomy and the Arts” by P. Syme.
